Check out tips and inspirations for preparing your picnic and enjoying the day outdoors

Sunny days are a great opportunity to prepare a picnic and create memories outdoors. This is one of the best activities to enjoy with friends or family, especially with kids.

For everything to go as planned, you need to choose a suitable place and organize all the necessary utensils to enjoy the moment without headaches.

Check out our tips and discover how to prepare your picnic!

1. Location

Picnics usually take place outdoors, such as on the beach or in parks. For this reason, it’s important to check the weather forecast before choosing the location so you don’t get caught off-guard. If the forecast is for a very sunny day and the location doesn’t have many trees for shade, don’t forget to bring a sunshade and wear sunscreen.

2. What to take

When preparing snacks, prefer ready-made foods to ensure more convenience and to keep them from spoiling. Good options are breads, cakes and cookies. If you want to take some fruit, store it well in an airtight package so it stays good for longer. On the other hand, cold or hot beverages should be kept in thermal flasks to maintain their temperature.

3. Utensils

Utensils help make everything more practical, orderly and sanitary. Key items to include in the picnic basket or satchel are glasses and cups, flatware, napkins, trays and thermal flasks.

Another item that must not be overlooked is a tablecloth or sarong to cover the picnic area. The red checkered print is a classic, but you can use another one as you prefer.

4. Plan activities

Picnic with family, friends or kids? Whether adults or children, what’s important is to have fun during this leisure time. Board games, cards and ball games are more than welcome for enjoyment.

If the location allows, you can put together a playlist of your favorite songs and bring a speaker to make the day even more special. Just remember to be mindful and make sure your activities do not disturb others who are sharing the location.

5. Clean up your garbage

Everyone likes to arrive somewhere and find it clean and tidy, right? If you opt for disposable items or foods that generate waste, it is essential to bring a bag for garbage. At the end of the picnic, take a look around and pick up everything to be disposed of properly. Apart from contributing to the cleanliness of the spot, this attitude keeps wild animals from feeding on food scraps.
