Warm or cold light, in the bedroom or in the living room: there is a product that is most suitable for each application

Proper ambient lighting is a crucial part of any renovation or construction project. It creates different moods, from intimate to festive, highlights details of the decoration and brings comfort to the eyes. Even mood and physical and mental disposition can be influenced by light conditions.

Warm or cold, for living room, bedroom, or office, there are many possibilities when it comes time to choose. For each application, however, there is a product that is most suitable. Learn more about these points to be observed and make the right choice for your needs.

Luminous Efficiency

The technology used in products is directly related to luminous efficiency. The luminous flux determines the efficiency of the bulb and how well it will illuminate a given space. The more lumens (lm), the higher the luminosity. To find out how many lumens will be needed to light a certain room, just use a simple estimation

calculation: a room measuring 12 m² needs one 1200-lumen lamp or two 600-lumen
lamps [12 m² x 100 lm/m² = 1200 lm].

Color temperature

Temperature makes all the difference in visual comfort and in people’s physical and mental performance. Identified by the letter K, for Kelvin, they make up a scale that goes from yellow light, around 3000K, through whitish/neutral, around 4000K, to white, around 6500K. The yellow color conveys the feeling of a warmer, cozier environment. White is considered to be colder and more similar to sunlight at noon.

Colors are related to the sensations transmitted by light. As such, in offices, doctors’ offices, hospitals, industrial facilities, study spaces, bathrooms, kitchens and utility areas, lamps that emit white light are the most suitable. Yellow light is recommended for bedrooms, living, dining and TV rooms, places of rest and relaxation. In decoration, warm or cool lights can even be combined, depending on the intention.

LED Technology

Among the different technologies, the ones currently used most are LED bulbs.
Economical (more light per watt consumed) and durable, they are indicated for all applications because they offer low heat emission to the environment and are available in different color temperatures and in various models. Moreover, they can be recycled because they do not contain toxic materials and do not emit infrared and ultraviolet radiation.
