Aluminum

Aluminum is a material of great versatility, being used in different products. It is a material of easy and infinite recycling and of great interest in the production chain. All waste generated in the production of Tramontina's products is reused in the companies themselves, turning them into products, which results in a significant reduction in energy consumption in the life cycle of this material.

Stainless-steel

Stainless-steel is a material that has a long service life, is 100% recyclable and is of great interest to the chain. It is very common that in its composition there are significant percentages of recycled material. Tramontina’s products made with it are widely recognized for their quality and durability, in addition to not requiring frequent maintenance or replacement – an important pillar of sustainability.

Carbon steel

The carbon steel alloys used in Tramontina’s products have an easily accessible recycling chain. In their composition, they present elements that facilitate the production process and give the product characteristics that improve resistance to wear, bending, fatigue and tenacity, which reflects on the useful life of the product.

Hierro Fundido

El hierro fundido es un material reconocido por su excepcional resistencia y capacidad de retener calor, garantizando una vida útil extremadamente larga para los productos. Altamente duradero y resistente al desgaste, contribuye a reducir la necesidad de reemplazos frecuentes. Además, es un material 100% reciclable, permitiendo reintroducir esos residuos a la cadena productiva, lo que refuerza el compromiso de Tramontina con la circularidad y la sustentabilidad.

Plastic

Plastic is a versatile material that can be used in a wide range of applications: furniture, household utensils, tools, vehicles, packages, etc. Its processing consumes less energy than similar materials and can be recycled easily and many times. Currently, several products have percentages of recycled material in their composition, even assisting in the disposal of disposable materials.

Wood

Wood is a renewable raw material used for producing tool handles, furniture, flatware, and general utensils. This raw material comes from reforestation areas and sustainable management projects.

Porcelain

It is produced from raw materials of mineral origin, from carefully selected suppliers. It is an inert, resistant material that is processed with technology aimed at quality and resource optimization. The virtues of porcelain are reflected in the quality, durability and beauty of the products.

Packaging

Packages are not developed solely to hold Tramontina products. The way consumers receive and dispose of these materials has a direct impact on the environment. For this reason, factories are continually studying and developing improvements to their packaging, through projects to reduce or eliminate plastic, reduce the quantity of materials, develop materials with recycled content and/or from renewable sources, single-material packaging and other initiatives.

Environmental Management

Tramontina invests in clean technologies and in the management of issues such as emissions, water, waste, and energy, guided by its Sustainability Policy and an Environmental Committee. With a focus on eco-efficiency, the factories seek to reduce impacts, preserve natural resources, mitigate climate change, and promote low-carbon operations, including sustainable wood management.

This commitment is also reflected in the communities through the Environmental Visit Program in Carlos Barbosa (RS), as well as employee training and clear communication with customers and consumers through official channels, packaging, and manuals. Learn more in the Sustainability Report.

Energy

GRI 3-3 | 302

In line with legislation and its Sustainability Policy, Tramontina invests in a renewable and clean energy mix. In Brazil, purchasing energy through the Free Energy Market ensures the use of renewable sources and greater efficiency.

The strategy also includes steam generation from wood waste, the use of solar panels and biomethane, and a project to produce its own green hydrogen for production processes and logistics. The performance of these initiatives is continuously monitored through energy consumption indicators.

Carbon Management

Through the Sustainability Department and the Environmental Committee, Tramontina conducts its climate actions in alignment with the Sustainability Policy. Initiatives include the preparation of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and the analysis of risks and opportunities across its operations.

In 2023, the creation of the Energy Matrix Working Group strengthened initiatives focused on energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction, with results monitored through indicators. The company also develops more efficient products and equipment, contributing to the responsible use of resources and climate change mitigation.

Water and Effluents

For Tramontina, water is a strategic resource. Following the guidelines of the Sustainability Policy, the manufacturing units adopt solutions focused on water circularity, such as industrial water reuse and rainwater harvesting. Effluents undergo physical-chemical and biological treatment, ensuring disposal in compliance with legislation and the preservation of ecosystems.

Results are monitored through indicators for water withdrawal, consumption, and quality. The company also develops products that encourage the conscious use of this resource, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and environmental preservation.

Waste

At Tramontina, waste management follows the Sustainability Policy and prioritizes prevention, reduction, reuse, and recycling. Sustainable design and the use of precision software optimize raw materials and expand the use of recycled materials, strengthening the circular economy.

For more than 30 years, the Waste Management Center has ensured operational control and traceability, allowing materials to return to the production chain, such as recycled aluminum and wood used as an energy source. Performance is monitored through indicators, while the A More Conscious Environment Program promotes reverse logistics for post-consumer products.

Forests and Biodiversity

Tramontina preserves biodiversity and complies with legal requirements from the planning through the monitoring of its operations, with a focus on energy, emissions, water, and waste, in full alignment with its Sustainability Policy. Environmental management encompasses impact studies (EIA/RIMA), fauna and flora monitoring, and vegetation compensation measures. This commitment is reinforced by international FSC certification for products and packaging and by the management of impacts throughout the supplier chain.
