Wheat is an ancient food and the first crops of the grain are believed to have been grown in Asia. Despite having come from so far away, it is found on Brazilian tables and is the foundation for cake recipes, pastas and especially our daily bread.

Want some bread? Brioche, originally from France, is light and flavorful and goes well with sandwiches and at breakfast because it is fluffy and nutritious. Gather the ingredients and start preparing!

Brioche Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 40 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • 80 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg yolk for brushing


Preparation method:

1. In a bowl, warm the milk, then add the sugar and yeast, mix well and transfer to the bowl of a mixer.

2. In the same bowl, add the egg, flour, salt and butter, then beat gently until a smooth, shiny dough forms.

3. Transfer the dough to a brioche mold and let it rest until doubled in size. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in a cooled environment for 6 hours.

4. Then leave it at room temperature for 1 hour.

5. Brush the egg yolk over the brioche and set aside.

6. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and bake the brioche for 45 minutes.

7. Take it out of the oven, remove from pan and let it cool.

8. Serve with your favorite accompaniments.
