Ingredients
1 roll of read-made puff pastry
300 g chicken breast
1 small onion, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon spicy paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of butter
200 ml milk
150 g grated cheddar cheese
1 beaten egg (for brushing)
Kitchen twine (for tying and shaping the pumpkin)

Filling preparation method
In a sauce pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion until it becomes translucent. Add the chicken, the paprika and season with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté for a few minutes until the chicken is well seasoned. Lastly, shred the chicken and set aside.

Sauce preparation method

In another sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the milk and gradually add the grated cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth. Add the sautéed chicken to the cheddar sauce and mix well, ensuring that the chicken is fully coated by the sauce. Set aside.

To assemble, open the puff pastry on a flour-dusted surface. Cut the pastry into squares, large enough to encase the chicken filling. Place a generous portion of the chicken and cheddar filling in the middle of each pastry square. Close the puff pastry by bringing the ends together in the center, forming a pouch. Tie with the twine, tightening gently to form the sections that resemble a pumpkin.

Brush the pastries with the beaten egg, ensuring that they get nicely brown when baking. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Place the pastries on a roasting pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Remove the twine before serving, being careful not to mess up the shape. Serve the pastries still hot.
